UTA WAYU MPC Union was established in 1998 E.C. (2005/2006 G.C.) in Shashemene, West Arsi Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Our mission is to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers by providing modern agricultural technologies, value-adding agro-processing services, affordable credit facilities, reliable market information, and direct market linkages both domestically and internationally.

Our History

UTA WAYU Multi-Purpose Farmers Cooperative Union was established in 1998 E.C. (2005/2006 A.D.) in Shashemene Town, West Arsi Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Founded with the goal of addressing the challenges faced by local farmers, the union began as a collective effort to provide access to modern agricultural technologies, reliable inputs, and better market opportunities. Over the years, UTA WAYU has grown significantly, expanding its reach to include 135 primary cooperatives and serving more than 45,310 members. Our journey has been marked by a commitment to sustainable practices, community empowerment, and economic transformation in the agricultural sector.
